Use A Talavera Mirror In Your Cozy Space

After just moving in you're faced with stark white walls and a tacky pull down blind. Yuck! Now how is one to make this into a warm and inviting space? Think Mexican. It's colorful, vibrant, so inviting and a great choice for a room. And be sure to add a Talavera mirror to the décor!

For centuries Mexico has been acknowledged as the place to buy exceptional quality Talavera and tin products. Talavera tile mirrors are uniquely designed by artisans who care and take their work seriously. Each intricate pattern is punched into the tin by hand a very time consuming project. These mirrors can be purchased in all kinds of shapes and sizes and you can get oxidized or natural tin.

Here are some great tips to help transform those stark white walls into a cozy Mexican atmosphere.

1. Direct Lighting Direct lighting does more than provide functional lighting. It provides shadows that visually draw you into a room. Use incandescent lighting to keep it soft and warm and inviting. Place your mirrors at an angle that captures the light from your lamp. This will reflect light and create an illusion of a larger space. 2. Colors, Patterns, & Textures When you think Mexico what do you see? Vibrant red, orange, and yellow hues? Fabulous southwestern pattern and wonderful natural pottery textures are all common elements. Add some Mexican baskets, blankets, and pillows and your room will instantly be transformed.

If your budget can afford it consider hardwood floor. It looks great and all you need is a Mexican area rug. 3. Furniture Wood and rattan are popular as is Santa Fe, Playa Vista, and Maderarte are all great furniture choices. Rustic is key here so choose furniture that fits but make sure you don't overcrowd your small space. Kiln dried pine wood is a great choice for Mexican furniture. 4. Pottery Mexican pottery is an integral part of any Mexican décor. Choose from the most rustic to the highly decorative. The beauty of Mexico is the range of choices. In fact one of the neatest Mexican pottery items you can add to your room is a Chiminea a Mexican fireplace. Be sure to pay attention to the size of the fire bowl.

Now all these great tips and your thinking but my budget just can't handle it right now. Not to worry there's a couple of things you can do. First off add the Talavera mirrors to your wall. It's an affordable instant transformation. If you can do nothing else in the décor depart do this. You won't be sorry!

There are some great sites selling a terrific selection of mirrors. They are all so beautiful it will be hard to choose! Now once you choose your mirrors if you discover you still have a little bit of a budget left then visit places like eBay and you can probably snag a few good deals on a couple of Mexican blankets or an area rug. It doesn't take much to get your them rolling and then you can slowly begin to build on it over time.

So which Talavera mirror will it be? What the heck why not make it more than one? Can't you just see it?
