West coast mirrors are those long thin mirrors we see on the side of heavy trucks that haul long trailers or heavy cargo. Typically, they are about 7" X 16" and are attached with brackets that make them stick out farther than passenger mirrors. West coast mirrors can be in a plain chrome-finished style or they can incorporate LED signals and heat to keep them from fogging. West coast mirrors cannot make everything visible to the truck driver; therefore, it is best to follow the advice you see on the back of many trucks-"If you can't see my mirrors, I can't see you." Stay back far enough that you can see the trucks west coast mirrors.
